Visit from Steven Ekelman -St Ratelijne-Waver Belgium

Tuesday 3 April , Steven,Jessica (his wife-dog groomer) and daughter-Yolan came to collect another machine. Also to have some extra training geared towards our specific clipper Honer. He already has the Nebraska Honer but for economic reasons wishes to compliment it with our AF/CAN  which we sell and guarantee on behalf of Geo Hunter,Canada. A very pleasant meeting as Steven has been here before when he bought a Knife Grinder.

The principal advantage of our machine is our single sided honing plate which if properly respected lasts up to ten years or more even when sharpening thousands ! of  combs and cutters for Dogs, Horses and sheep. We at Frankland Grinding have two machines on the go, one of them is well over ten years producing perfect results still.

Repeat visit to Clippadog’s-Thornton-Cleveleys

This was my first visit to Adrian’s Dog Clipping business in 2017- it certainly won’t be my last. Read on ……….his business is a business with a constant open door- non stop return customers. He seems to automatically remember every customers name and their pet’s idiosyncrasies. I stripped, cleaned, sharpened, cleaned again, oiled and re-assembled the following blades: 8.5  one,  10’s five, 4’s Three, 5/8″ Two , 5’s Five , 3’s four, 7’s  six, 6’s Two …. some twenty eight blades.  Then due to other commitments had to leave. Have to return on Friday morning to sharpen some 15 large, medium, curved, thinners and chunkers tant mieux !

Thanks Amanda for the coffee and the tea. Always good brews !-

Visit by Lee Holroyd from West Sussex and Ross Wotton from Devon

Due to me having the dreaded “influenza” bug I nearly forgot these very pleasant gentlemen were coming today Saturday 4 February for one day of introductory Training. They arrived on the Friday and stayed in a modest , value for money guesthouse in Clayton-le-Moors, apparently had a good breakfast so were alert and fresh for their day of instruction with myself. This training was all inclusive, how to service/sharpen: all types of Clippers, Scissors (hairdressers/barbers/dog groomers etc) and double bevel + single bevel corrugated and serrated knives. Truly- two intelligent, business orientated, hands-on guys. When they start up as they both indicated they would- they will be natural sharpeners.  I feel with their individual characters, they will be an instant hit with the vast clientele available to them. God Luck Ross and Lee ! Life is definately what we make it !

Training my new customer-Gary Taylor-Angle Edge

Gary has been to my company twice; the first time to buy and be trained on our Knife Grinder model Bdk 702905 and yesterday he returned to learn the art/skill involved in servicing/sharpening etc of all types of Animal Clippers, Andis, Oster, Wahl, Heinigen and Aesculaps for Barbers, Horses, Dogs, Sheep and Veterinaries. His wife was a dog groomer and still is to a smaller extent. What a pleasure to do business with. an intelligent gentleman who had paid for his machines long before I had made out the invoices. We spent time together sharpening Andis and Öster blade sets and then mounting them into my variable speed clipper and testing them on fake animal fur that I buy in from America. I also demonstrated my pressure testing device  e.g. The pressure of the cutter on the comb.

I wish Gary all the best most positive wishes. He is Positive man , so I am sure he will succeed.

VISIT TO “The Dog House” Angel Lane” Penrith Cumbria to Sharpen Clippers and Scissors.

This was my second visit to The Dog House (although my wife often sends me here !) The business owner is Trish-a lovely bubbly, kind person and obvious Dog lover. Trisha told me she had sent a lot of her clippers to somewhere in Ireland but was not “one bit happy ” with the results. I had done some eight or ten before “as a trial” and Trish said they were perfect. Before I started Trish treated me to a fresh coffee and Two beautiful scrumptious cakes. Thanks Trish ! In total I serviced, sharpened, oiled and re-assembled eighteen clippers and one cutting scissor in stainless steel and on animal thinning scissor in Cobalt.

SORRY ABOUT THE LACK OF PHOTOGRAPH. (Forgot my camera- will photograph Trish and a dog or two on my next visit.

First visit to : Clever Clips Dog Grooming, Jamie & Amanda. Knotty Ash- Liverpool. Wednesday 19 Oct 2016

Another pleasurable visit. New customer.  Jamie and Amanda opened their new grooming business some ten months ago.

Amanda with her Liverpool accent and Jamie with her Canadian accent and me from East Lancashire ……. Wow it was a bit like the United Nations ! Well …. Two lovely accommodating girls… Had a coffee and got stuck in. Clippers (Oster) then three professional grooming scissors. As it was a first visit I asked the girls to test my work. No problems – there were plenty of dogs there. They tested my work and we’re delighted by the results.

Then I showed the girls my Presentation case of Grooming Scissors- Amanda could not resist buying a Titanium Six inch scissor- a beautiful quality scissor. I am now waiting for their next call.

Visit to Crowpark and Royle Equestrian Centres- Burnley

IMG_0529 IMG_0530

Today a visit was requested by Wayne- the manager at Crow Wood Equestrian Centre in Burnley. After sharpening a variety of Horse Clipper Blades-the large combs and the smaller cutters. I was treated to an excellent coffee. Quite often the Horse owners come to me but, I aim to make it easier for them.

Then, as I was so close to the Royle Equestrian Centre I called to see David Heap, unfortunately David was not available . A lady asked me to call again later as all of the blades I had done before we’re still clipping.

Training visit by Kevin Fleming. Armadale Scotland 14-16 Nov.

Kevin spent three full days with me to learn how to service Professional Scissors -all types, Knives and Clippers. Kevin has been a maintenance engineer for the past twenty five years. He is a Scot who lives equa distant between Glasgow and Edinburgh. We covered all of the theory e.g. Left and right handed scissors, ergonomic scissors, all the different lengths of scissors, texturisers/thinners , convexity and concavity. The differences between hairdressers/barbers scissors and dog groomers scissors. Plus the differences between the clippers that each industry uses. Then we moved on to Chefs knives- de-boning,steak knives, cleavers, carvery knives and cutlery knives- double bevelled knives in the main part and then scalloped edged knives etc Kevin has decided that he needs the machinery to service scissors, knives and clippers . He still has to decide on a suitable name for his new company.
